Kimberly Soto is a native of Boston, Massachusetts who moved to Florida in 2004 and now owns and manages The Soto Law Office, P.A. Ms. Soto opened The Soto Law Office, P.A. to advise and assist clients in matters related to civil, family and probate law. Before establishing The Soto Law Office, P.A., Ms. Soto was a Senior Associate at The Law Office of Karen Wonsetler, P.A., where she acted as lead litigation attorney working on civil cases covering a variety of practice areas.
Ms. Soto's knowledge, coupled with years of experience, allows her to represent her clients in and out of the courtroom. As a result of her excellent client service, she’s earned the 2017 Avvo Clients’ Choice Award and Avvo’s 9.0 Top Attorney Rating. She is a recent nominee of the ABA Journal Lawyers of Distinction Award, which recognizes excellence in the practice of law.
Her real estate law experience includes representing buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions, representing landlord and tenants in lease negotiations and evictions, representing investors in the purchase and sale of hotels, apartments, condominiums, single-family homes, shopping centers, subdivision and mobile-home developments. It also includes drafting purchase and sale agreements as well as condominium documents, representing homeowners and condominium associations, and reviewing and identifying issues contained in contracts, title, and loan underwriting.
Her family law experience includes representation in divorce, parental rights, child visitation, child support, and spousal support proceedings. She also handles marital property distributions, modifications, and enforcement actions, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
Ms. Soto has an understanding of the probate system of multiple counties throughout Central Florida. Her experience includes assisting clients with limited guardianship proceedings where the Ward (the subject of the guardianship) retain some decision-making rights and plenary (or full) guardianship proceedings, where the guardian assumes all decision- making rights for the Ward.
She is highly proficient in the preparation of estate planning documents, including wills, living wills, trusts, health care surrogate and preneed guardian for individuals or families. She was the featured speaker who presented "Family Trust Funds 101 - How to Avoid Probate" at the Orlando Sentinel Successful Aging Expo, which took place at the Orange County Convention Center on February 18, 2018.
Her business experience includes providing valuable information to Central Florida's small businesses and entrepreneurs at workshops, lunch and learns, networking events, radio, and articles. She was a featured guest speaker on What's the Score Radio Show, a business education radio program in Orlando, and highly recommended by local businesses and her colleagues.
Ms. Soto was awarded her Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations from the honors program at Rollins College in May 2008 and graduated Magna cum laude. She was then awarded a Juris Doctor Degree from The George Washington University Law School in May 2011, where she served as a Student Bar Association Senator and received the prestigious Presidential Merit Scholarship. During her 3L year, Ms. Soto assisted the National Security Division of the Department of Justice with the creation, editing, and publication of a new internal newsletter summarizing case law and legal developments. She also interned at Morgan & Morgan and for the Honorable Senior Judge Thomas Turner of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida.
Ms. Soto is licensed to practice law in all county and circuit courts throughout the State of Florida, as well as the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. She is also a Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator. As a professional Circuit Civil Mediator, Ms. Soto negotiates acceptable resolutions to all issues of dispute.
Ms. Soto is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division. She enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her husband Matt, their family, and companion cats.
